About the Allergy and Asthma Centre
The Allergy and Asthma Centre in Durban was established in the year 2000 by Dr. Ahmed Ismail Manjra. It serves as a centre of excellence to help patients with allergic disorders and/or asthma by providing specialist care of the highest standard. The Centre caters for both children and adults.
Meet Dr Ahmed Ismail Manjra
Dr. Ahmed Ismail Manjra is a Paediatrician and Allergologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
He graduated with his MBChB from Natal Medical School in 1983 and obtained his FCP in Paediatrics in 1988. He further went on to gain his Diploma in Allergology in 2003 (Cum Laude).
Dr. Manjra was awarded the Eugene Weinberg Gold Medal by the College of Medicine of South Africa for outstanding performance in the Allergology Examinations in 2003. He also obtained his Masters Degree in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2009.
He is an International Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and a Fellow of the American College of Allergy & Clinical Immunology. He is also a member of the European Academy of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
Dr. Manjra served as the past president of the Allergy Society of South Africa and is currently an Executive Member of the Allergy Society of South Africa.
He is a Director of the Allergy Foundation of South Africa and has published over 60 articles in peer reviewed local and international journals
He is the Co-Editor of the ALLSA HANDBOOK of Allergy and has also contributed many chapters to the book.
